The Wild Iceberg

Who We Are

About Us

An independent voice for the natural world — rigorous, uncompromising, and deeply curious.

Our Mission

We Tell the Stories the Wild Cannot

The Wild Iceberg was founded on a simple but urgent idea: the natural world deserves the same quality of journalism as politics, finance, or culture. The stories unfolding in forests, oceans, savannahs, and ice fields are among the most consequential of our time — and most of them go untold.

We are here to change that. Through long-form reporting, science explainers, field dispatches, and photographic essays, we bring the natural world into sharp focus — its beauty, its complexity, its fragility, and its extraordinary resilience.

We do not do doom. We do not do false hope. We report honestly on what science tells us, what conservation is achieving, and what is at stake if we look away.

"The wild does not need our admiration. It needs our attention."

What Drives Us

Our Values

Accuracy First

Every claim is verified. Every statistic sourced. We consult primary research and leading scientists before we publish. If we get something wrong, we correct it — openly and promptly.

Independence

We are editorially independent. No government body, corporation, or conservation organisation dictates our coverage. Our only obligation is to our readers and to the truth.

Depth Over Clicks

We resist the pull of outrage and virality. We write long when the story demands it. We take the time to understand ecosystems, species, and the science behind them — and we expect our readers to as well.

Global Perspective

Wildlife does not respect borders. Neither do we. Our reporters and contributors span six continents, covering the stories that matter wherever they happen — from the Arctic tundra to the Congo Basin.

Science-Led

We trust the scientific consensus and explain the complexity behind it. Our editorial team includes writers with backgrounds in ecology, marine biology, climate science, and conservation biology.

Passion for the Wild

We love this planet. Not as a resource or a backdrop, but as a living system of extraordinary complexity and beauty. That love is the engine behind everything we publish.

Editorial Focus

What We Cover

Our coverage spans the full breadth of the natural world, from microscopic ecosystems to planetary systems.

Wildlife

Behaviour, ecology, migration, endangered species, human-wildlife conflict, and the science of animal cognition and social life.

Oceans

Marine biodiversity, deep-sea exploration, coral reef systems, ocean plastic, fisheries, and the creatures that inhabit 71% of our planet.

Science

Cutting-edge research in ecology, evolutionary biology, conservation genetics, and the field studies reshaping our understanding of life on Earth.

Climate

How a changing climate is reshaping habitats, altering species ranges, disrupting migration patterns, and forcing adaptation across the living world.

Animals

In-depth profiles, remarkable discoveries, and untold stories from the animal kingdom — from apex predators to the smallest invertebrates.

Conservation

Success stories, hard lessons, policy debates, rewilding initiatives, and the people dedicating their lives to protecting biodiversity.

How We Work

Editorial Standards

Trust is earned in the details. Here is how we approach our journalism.

Sourcing

We cite peer-reviewed studies, official databases, and named expert sources. We do not publish anonymous scientific claims. All statistics link to primary sources.

Corrections Policy

Errors are corrected at the top of the article with a clear timestamp and description of what changed. We do not delete corrections or quietly rewrite published text.

Conflicts of Interest

Contributors disclose funding, affiliations, and relationships that could influence their reporting. Sponsored content is always clearly labelled and editorially separate.

Photography Ethics

We do not publish manipulated wildlife photographs that misrepresent animal behaviour or habitat. All images are credited, and we reject staged or baited wildlife photography.
